Settling down and Personal Updates

So my baby girl Rowan came home over a week after being in the NICU for a little over a month. She is doing great, gaining weight and being a good little baby girl. I have to say with my Husband and I we have been balancing parenthood pretty well so far with our feeding shifts, diaper changes, etc.

I am so happy that we are safe and sound. I had a pregnancy disorder called Preeclampsia and HELPP syndrome which is a disorder that shows up after the 3rd trimester, symptoms are high blood pressure, extreme swelling which I had around week 30 in my pregnancy. It was not a fun ordeal at all and effects about 5%of the US population, HELPP syndrome effects like 1%. The only way to cure it is by delivering the baby, so Rowan Elaine was born 7 weeks early.

I was in the hospital for around 8 days, the worst was no internet in the hospital so I was left with my 3g network, iphone and my friends and family who were constantly visiting me. ( loved that ) I remember one night I was  so restless I ended up watching the whole entire Royal wedding because I was having the worst time sleeping one of the nights I was there.

I am 100 % healthy at this point and its just such a strange and bizarre pregnancy disorder. Doctors don’t know why it happens, some women are just predisposed to it. I am happy to be breathing the fresh air again and snuggling with my Baby and sharing her with Keith. I am so happy to start shooting again this summer I have a couple of engagements to warm up with and then full blown weddings starting in August.

Rowan is 100 % healthy, developing nicely I couldn’t ask for anything more!

I have been photographing Rowan and my Husband together around the house since I have been on maternity leave. Yes yes I know some of you are asking for photos of me and Rowan .. sooon my friends..

  1. Rowan (one of my all-time favorite names!) has a gorgeous Old Lady face. I bet she has fantastic expressions!

(Old Lady/Old Man faces are my favorite on wee babies. I want to make sure that’s clear!)
