Danielle and Justin – Museum of Moving Image – Long Island City, NY

0 0

Justin and Danielle created an amazingly unique wedding fusing their love for art and movie making into one exciting event.

We started the day in their aptartment in Great Neck, then went to the Socrates Sculpture Park and a favorite of mine the Noguchi Museum for formals.

Their wedding was at the Museum of Moving Image, if you have never gone its a must see. Contains old film cameras, sound sets, how to’s vintage video games.. the original nintendo, pong,  Monty Pythonesque – Terry Gilliam  animated demos, ephermera from movies, props, fast masks, YODA!!   They were married in the newly renovated movie theater within the museum, while quotes from their favorite romantic movies flashed on the screens.

Justin and Danielle let their guests experience this wonderful place through hands on activites throughout the museum including a mini theater designed by the famous sculptor  Red Grooms. Inside the mini theater some of their closest family and friends revealed great moments between the couple.  Meanwhile downstairs guests enjoyed popcorn, cotton candy, cupcakes from Magnolia and 3 hours of wonderful cocktail hour food.

I was happy to set up our new photobooth, please check out some of the awesome photos we got that night.

My second photographer Alison Nichols  did  an amazing job as always!!

Danielle and Justin —answered some questions about their wedding day…
1. What was your favorite part of your wedding?
Danielle: It’s so tough to pick one favorite part – our wedding was everything we dreamed it would be and more!  I loved our ceremony because it was so beautiful, personalized, and unique.  We were married on the stage of a big movie theater,  filled with all of our friends and family – the celebrant told our love story, we chose readings that resonated with us, we wrote our own vows, and we ended the ceremony with our first dance to R.E.M.’s Be Mine right there on stage, performed live by Justin’s cousin Ryan. It also made me so happy to see all of our guests exploring and having fun in the museum exhibits, and of course I had the time of my life dancing the night away.

Justin: How can I pick a favorite part? I loved every part of it!

4.Anything else you want to add!
My advice to any couple planning a wedding would be “do it your own way!” We planned a very non-traditional ceremony and reception, and it took a little bit of time for our parents to embrace what we wanted to do.  Eventually they did – and Justin and I ran with it!  We took every opportunity to personalize our wedding, and the whole thing turned out perfectly – it was so “us”.  We keep hearing from our families and friends that they had the best time at our wedding, and it was an unforgettable evening.  We couldn’t be happier with how it all came together!
