Jill and Daniel – September 2012 – West Sayville Country Club, NY

Jill and Daniel  had so many fun touches to their wedding that reflected their personalities.  The Australian touches ( Dan is from Australia) – animals, reptiles and birds prints on the tables, the cute Kola bear cake topper.  Jill and Daniel are both gamers and Daniel who is in the computing field – his – RAM cuff links, computer tower “gift box, ”  the name cards placed in the keyboard. How cute are these two?? Here are some questions she answered for me :

1. What was your favorite part of your wedding?

Our favorite part of the wedding was exchanging our personal vows at
the ceremony. Dan and I kept them top secret from each other prior to
the wedding, only giving each other the final word count so one
wouldn’t be way longer than the other, and it was amazing to see how
similar the things that we loved about each other were. A close second
to this though was our first look- completely memorable after my veil
blew right out of my hair and nearly into the water a few feet away
from Dan! Luckily your assistant Cat was an excellent veil drying
rack, and that near-miss so early on in the day got us laughing and
took away all our nerves.

2.Can you list any vendors the vendors you used for your wedding?

3.Your dress and tux/suit designers

Dan’s Tux: Karako

4.Anything else you want to add!

When planning what we wanted to do for the wedding, we decided to try
and incorporate as much of Australia as we could because the trip was
very far and very expensive for his family and friends from home to
travel. Green and gold are very representative of Australia, and is
what all their sporting teams wear, which is why we chose those for
our color scheme. We had each table represented by a different
Australian animal, and special ordered lamingtons (a traditional
dessert of sponge cake covered with chocolate and coconut and filled
with jam) from a bakery in the city to introduce our guests to some
food from Dan’s homeland. When I found an Etsy vendor that did custom
animal cake toppers, I knew we had to have a bride and groom koala for
ours!

To represent how we met and our shared hobby, we dismantled a keyboard
and filled it with foam, and then stuck heart shaped card holders in
it to hold all our escort cards. We couldn’t have computer without a
tower and a screen, so we made those into our card box and a sign. We
got Dan’s RAM cufflinks from an Etsy vendor, which also just happened
to be in our wedding colors as well!

We were very lucky that my brother is a graphic designer, so he
designed literally everything from our wedding website, our
invitations, the  seating cards and table number, and the menus and
other signage. It was a huge help to have him do all of this for us,
and it made all of our paper products turn out so beautiful and
coordinated.

5. How you two met

We met originally via an online game that I was introduced to by my
brother. For over a year while I was in America and Dan was in
Australia, we kept daily contact with each other as friends, chatting
about everything and anything. It was in 2006 that we realized that
there may be something more to our relationship, so Dan came to visit
me in New York for a week. Things went so well that the next January I
went to Sydney to stay with Dan for a month, and at this point we knew
that we were meant to be together. Dan got a job in New York, packed
all of his belongings into two suitcases, and took a huge leap of
faith by moving to New York that April. As immigration logistics
prevented him from getting paid at work for several months, he moved
into the den at my parents house, who he stayed with while I went back
to college. Over four years later, Dan proposed, and now we are
married!

This veil seriously had a mind of its own!Jills brother could jump.. this was a request from him 🙂 LOVE the ” RAM” cufflings

  1. Thank you Laura for making the best day of our lives even better. I am so happy that you were able to document our wedding so beautifully!

  2. What beautiful coverage! I absolutely ADORE the photo of the bride going down the stairs, so classic. And the party shots! Everyone looks like they had an amazing time, and I love the shot of the little girl in her pjs 🙂 so cute!!
