Rory!
Many people have asked me where does the name come from ? Well my Husband and I are big fans of Irish Names. Rory was a Red Headed King according to Medieval Galeic and our other reason is the character Rory Williams from the English show Doctor Who.
One of our favorite seasons was the one with Amy Pond and Rory Williams who were the companions of Doctor Who. Keith ( my Husband) and I were of course going through baby naming books and just couldn’t come to a great conclusion on a name for months. We were watching Doctor Who and I was like Keith, ” I Love Rory, that name is awesome” Keith was like lets just do it. So our Daughter Rowan now has a Brother Rory. I know we will probably get the names combined, mixed up whatever, we are happy and he is a happy little newborn.
As a lot of you know I am a big advocate and do donate a portion of my yearly business income to the Preeclampsia foundation. This is due to the fact I had Preeclampsia back in 2011. I do believe in helping others become aware of this terrible disease. I was at high risk for it this pregnancy and I knew being pregnant again I would have to be closely monitored. At around 24 weeks I was put on bed rest in December to reduce the percentage of getting it again along along with the rare pregnancy disease HELPP syndrome. My Blood pressure never did rise, nor did I get preeclampsia or HELPP again – I stayed at home, laid on the sofa, and basically “cooked” the baby . I was just happy that I had a full term 39 week baby born on March 14 2014 and the excellent support team of talented Doctors to get me through this pregnancy. I spent the last couple of months and currently assisting women who are pregnant become aware of the serious pregnancy disease Preeclampsia. I have a blog about my experience with the disease and talking to others who have had it post partum find their way to have another child after Preeclampsia and HELPP. I found Long Island to lack support for women who had it and were suffering from Post tramatic stress from the experience. I wanted to help others by spreading my story, talking to women one on one and working with the Preeclampsia Foundation.
Child birth takes such a toll on your body, but the recovery is insanely quick. As you can imagine after being almost two months post partum I am so relieved to be out exercising and shooting weddings again. I am so excited about all the shoots I have coming up — tons in the city this year with fun elopements at city hall and full day weddings starting out in Montauk all the way to Manhattan this year.
