Sooo as you can see this year I have photographed a lot at West Sayville Country Club. The location is beautiful and I can see why its a wonderful place to get married as its so versatile. Maureen and Brad had many details at their wedding, the vintage cars, the amazing vintage veil that was passed down generations to her to wear on her wedding day. The sweet details and the “keys to marriage” advice area and the cute sign in poster and the lovely Daisy theme.
Here are some details from the Bride and Groom on their wedding planning!!
This is so hard! We loved everything. Brad loved the cars in general. Brad and his dad have always loved old cars and it was really special for us to be able to make that a part of the wedding. We loved the look and feel it gave to the wedding. The drivers were all such nice guys and all our guests loved talking to them and chatting about the cars. We were also able to get such amazing pictures with the cars. We narrowed our favorite moment down to driving away in the backseat of the 1955 Chevy. It was one of the few “us” moments of the day. We had been apart all morning and it was the first time we really got to stop and say “hi!” and take it all in.

Maureen’s veil :
The veil is my grandmother’s and is sixty years old. It is hand sewn lace. Back when she bought it, it cost the same amount as her dress – $150. Two of my aunts wore it in their weddings and I was the first grandchild to get married and to use it.
My sister, the maid-of-honor, did the sign-in board and welcome sign. She also addressed all of our invitations in calligraphy. One of my bridesmaids and another good friend also did all the lace-cutting on the favor bags. Another bridesmaid cut and taped the straw flags. It’s very helpful to have an arts-and-craftsy support team!
We wanted to be “green” as much as we could, which is really hard to do for weddings! We minimized paper as much as possible, emailing friends our wedding website instead of doing a paper save-the-date, and keeping the invite all on one page with no extra envelopes or inserts. Thus, the potted plants and plantable paper key favors were along that line. We wanted to minimize cut flowers and have decor we could reuse (or replant) instead. We also initially had visions of a rustic, outdoor wedding, and when that was ruled out we wanted to keep some of those elements, so the potted plants and tree slices helped to do that. One of our groomsmen already needed to take down some trees and he was kind enough to create the tree slices for us. The mason jars and strung bare lights were also part of the “rustic” feel. The tea lights were made from both a book of John Stuart Mills essays that was Brad’s mom’s from high school and old sheet music a neighbor had. Both were falling apart and not being used. Literature and music are two of Brad’s passions and I wanted to represent that. I felt that a lot of the wedding was becoming my vision and I wanted to make sure he was in there too! The strung pictures and mantle photos we had seen at friends’ weddings, and we really liked the personal feeling it brought to the wedding. One of our big fears was that things would feel “cookie cutter” since we were going with a traditional reception hall, and we wanted to try to avoid that.
The details at this wedding were unique and beautiful..
